Skorpios’ shoes are handmade in Italy by fourth generation Italian artisans using only the finest materials.
Each pair is delivered in a hand embroidered pouch crafted in Mexico. Skorpios’ founder Adriana Abascal is passionate about supporting threatened traditional crafts by creating employment opportunities for small underprivileged communities and empowering female artisans in her native country.
Many of these women have suffered from poverty and domestic violence. Our goal is not only to contribute towards improving the living conditions of these workers, but also to raise their self-esteem while simultaneously preserving a precious cultural heritage.
Together with the charity Fundación Leon XIII, we have begun to work with a small community in Oaxaca, Mexico, that runs a workshop employing 10 female artisans. In the future, we intend to develop further collaborations with gifted artisans from disadvantaged communities.
